I am not a huge fan of Wal-Mart for a variety of reasons, the latest? Wal-Mart’s abominable labor practices. They continue to run commercials talking about how much they do for the community blah blah blah but now Wal-Mart “associates” in Minnesota are the latest public victims in Wal-Mart’s slave-gate. Julie Forster of the Pioneer Press broke the story and CBS News reports:

A Minnesota judge ruled that Wal-Mart cut short employees’ rest and meal breaks and forced them to work off the clock, violating the state’s labor laws 2 million times.

The judge awarded the the plaintiffs $6.5 million in compensatory damages.

I am a capitalist and am I’m not against big business. I am, however, against slavery.
